My Story

Amanda McSweeney is a self-taught Australian artist whose work explores oceans, waterways, and the life that thrives above and beneath their surface across changing climates.

Her connection to water began in childhood while sailing with her father, an experience that fostered a lasting appreciation for the ocean and the natural world. These early memories continue to shape and influence her artistic practice.

Travel and experiencing diverse countries and environments also play an important role in Amanda’s inspiration, broadening her perspective on the relationship between water, landscape, and life.

Through her work, Amanda is drawn to the environments that surround water—what lies beneath the surface, what exists above it, and the natural forces that continually shape and transform these landscapes. She enjoys experimenting with a variety of textures and mediums, using them to evoke the movement, depth, and ever-changing nature of water.
